Job Description & Responsibilities
The Hosting Client Success Manager at Skyhook is the primary client-facing contact for all hosting-related work. You’ll own the client experience around site launches, migrations, DNS, SSL, caching, SMTP, monitoring, and platform stability—combining hands-on technical execution with communication, coordination, and accountability. You’ll need to be comfortable configuring hosting platforms directly, translating technical concepts for clients, and driving complex, multi-stakeholder efforts to completion. Specifically, your typical responsibilities will include:
- Serving as the primary point of contact for clients on hosting-related needs, building trust through clear communication and consistent follow-through
- Receiving, evaluating, and routing hosting requests to the correct team—whether hosting, development, or client-billable project work
- Owning coordination and client success for site launches and migrations, including gathering client inputs, tracking readiness, and confirming post-launch stability
- Managing large-scale migration initiatives involving dozens or hundreds of sites, requiring phased execution, risk management, and coordination across teams
- Directly executing platform-level hosting tasks including DNS configuration, redirects, SSL setup, and caching changes
- Communicating hosting concepts (DNS, environments, SMTP, caching) in clear, client-friendly terms
- Responding to hosting incidents and outages with calm, timely, and accurate client-facing updates
- Acting as Project Manager for hosting initiatives—creating timelines, tracking milestones, and driving accountability
- Driving alignment across hosting work to ensure shared understanding of priorities, timelines, and expectations
- Identifying opportunities to improve hosting workflows, reduce friction, and raise the quality of delivery
- Providing clear direction and context to those involved in hosting tasks, ensuring everyone understands the “why” behind decisions
- Validating that deliverables meet client expectations and ensuring post-delivery verification is completed
Required Skills/Attributes:
- A good fit with our culture, and lives by our core values:
- Think: Smart with an almost academic interest in learning & growing
- Move: A bias for action and hustle
- Own: Open to feedback, highly self-aware
- Engage: Attentive, collaborative, and invested in collective success
- Hands-on experience supporting and configuring WordPress hosting environments
- Strong understanding of DNS, SSL, caching, SMTP, and core hosting concepts—with the ability to configure and troubleshoot these directly
- Experience coordinating and participating in site launches, migrations, or infrastructure changes—not just project management, but hands-on involvement
- Excellent client communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams—balancing tickets, active incidents, and long-running projects
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate efforts and hold others accountable to shared goals without direct authority
- Strong situational judgment—knowing when to act independently, when to escalate, and when to bring others along
- Experience (formal or informal) guiding, mentoring, or onboarding teammates
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and making sound decisions with incomplete information
- A positive, solutions-oriented attitude under pressure
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with hosting platforms such as WP Engine and Rocket.net
- Experience with tools like Asana, HelpScout, Google Workspace, Slack, and ManageWP
- Experience with code, development workflows, or site migrations at a technical level (beyond project coordination)
- Familiarity with caching layers (server-level, CDN, application-level) and transactional email systems
- Experience managing large-scale, multi-site migration projects
- Background in an agency or managed hosting environment
Compensation & Benefits
Making sure you’re well compensated for the support you give us is one of our top priorities. Typical benefits packages include:
- Competitive salary
- A share in the profits when the company does well
- Employer-paid health insurance plan, with access to vision and dental insurance as well
- 401k/Retirement plan options with 4% company match
- Generous Flex and PTO policies, including the week between Christmas and New Year’s
- Career mentoring & coaching from seasoned professionals
- Company-issued top-of-the-line hardware
- Regular team builders, dinners, funtivities, volunteer opportunities, retreats, and other community-building initiatives
